IGBRR 3A #1 Twin Lakes Indians made their way to the championship with wins over 3A #8 West Lafayette (60-45) and 2A #8 LCC (50-40) in the semi-finals. Harrison disposed of Benton Central (61-48) and host McCutcheon (53-24) on their path to the IU Health Hoops Classic championship contest.  The first quarter saw several lead changes before the Indians scored the last four points to take a 12-8 advantage at the first break. Twin Lakes extended their lead to 20-11 before Harrison would finish the half on a 8-2 run to draw within 22-19 at the intermission. Sophomore Addison Bowsman led all scorers at the half with 11 points for the Indians, Raiders senior center Campbell Moore had 6 points.  Twin Lakes was able to both out rebound Harrison in the first half despite the size advantage of the Raiders and turn over Harrison nine times. Twin Lakes would blow the game wide open in the second half of the third quarter. Leading 28-25 the Indians would go on a 19-2 run to end the quarter, riding  the hot hands of Addi Ward and Olivia Nickerson to a 47-27 lead after three quarters of play. The Indians would cruise through the fourth on their way to a 55-33 IU Health Hoops Classic Championship. Twin Lakes was 7/11 from the three point line in the second half while shooting 63% from the floor. Addi Ward paced the Indians with 15 points , Olvia Nickerson added 13 points after being held scoreless in the first half, and tourney MVP Addison Bowsman had a double-double with 13 points and 11 assist. Harrison was led by senior Riley Flinn with a team high 9 points and 4 assist. In the impressive win Twin Lakes both out rebounded Harrison by seven boards and forced nine more turnovers than they committed leading to seventeen more field goal attempts. Twin Lakes is off until November 26th when they travel to Tri-County, while Harrison visits another ranked 3A squad in Danville.

Addison Ward / Sr / 5’7 / PG / Twin Lakes
Addi led her Indians with 15 points in the championship game, which included a hot hand in the decisive third quarter. She average 12.5 PPG over the three tournament games. Addi has some wiry length, deceptive athleticism and shows the ability to get buckets in a variety of ways. She can handle as a guard, puts together aggressive attacks from the wing and can shoot it out to the three point line. She has been a productive piece of the Indian’s attack that has turned Twin Lakes into a top of the class program the last three seasons.

 

Riley Flinn / Sr / 5’11 / SG / Harrison Transylvania
Riley has been a stat stuffer over the last two season for the Raiders. She is a difficult matchup with her length, athleticism and guard skillset. She can score it at all levels and can create shots on her own with her agility and athleticism. She has good instincts for the action, stays active and is a playmaker on both ends. Riley led Harrison with 9 points and 4 assist.

Kendal Rider / Sr / 5’7 / PG / Lafayette Central Catholic Manchester
Kendal has over 70 games of experience from the point  for the 1A state runner-ups.  She has the experience and skillset to have a breakout senior season. She has battled through some health issues but has maintained her consistent productive play. She is a solid overall athlete, has traditionally been a facilitate first PG but has the skillset to get buckets when needed. She can handle against pressure, has good court vision and instincts. She led LCC in nearly every statistical category in the consolation game win with 17 points, 4 steals, 3 assist and 3 boards. 

 

Caitlyn Miller / Sr / 5’9 / CG / McCutcheon
Caitlyn is a solid athlete, has a strong frame and shows and overall versatile game. She can score it all levels, handle it as needed and is active and aggressive on both ends. She can defend several different spots with her strength and agility, can rebound against frontliners and shows good instincts, court vision and passing ability while on the move. She led her Mavericks with 7  points.

Prospect Notes:

Sarah Werth /  Jr / 5’10 / SF / West Lafayette
Sarah has a long strong frame, is a good athlete and has an instinctual and aggressive game on both ends. She was on the attack throughout, showing the ability to get buckets at all levels. She also got herself to the free thrown line with her strength and agility on the way to the rim. She can defend multiple spots with her athleticism and can rebound from the backcourt. Overall she is a difficult matchup with her size and guard skillset. She finished with a game high 23 points and 4 rebounds. 

 

Sarah Glick / Jr / 6’0 / PF / Benton Central
Sarah was very efficient in her less than twenty minutes of play. She has a nice feel around the bucket and shows good hands and feet on post entry.  She is able to scorer it with a post move on the block or an attack from the mid-post. She has length with wingspan, good mobility and a nose for the ball. She rebounds her area and can defend with her agility and strength. She was 5/8 with 10 points and 4 boards in limited play.

Taylor VanMeter     So / 5’10 / SF / Rensselaer
Taylor is long, fluid and has a versatile game from the wing. She can handle the ball as needed, has the length and skill to attack from the wing and can knock down the open shot. She can operate around the basket with her size or operate from the perimeter with her ball skill. She shows good instincts for the action, has court vision and can distribute on the move. She had a double-double with 16 pts, 11 boards and 6 assist in the win. 

 

Amani Byrd   So / 5’5 / PG / Lafayette Jeff
Amani has a good deal of athleticism in her game. She handles as a primary, is aggressive on the offensive end and shows the ability to create her own shots. She works on the defensive end and will go track down boards from the guard spot. She had 5 points and a pair of assist in the contest.
