We had thirty prospects at AIS from the incoming junior class and really liked the mix of the group. They put two players on the All-Showcase team and were a solid group all day with both productive guard and post play. Following are ten prospects from the class that earned multiple votes from the coaches throughout the event.
Jillian Beaderstadt 2028 / 6’2 / C / Lake Central
Jillian had a really nice day as one of the most consistently productive post prospects throughout the event. She has a big strong frontline frame, played with good energy and owned her area around the basket. Up and down showcase play is not always a conducive setting for post players, but she was efficient and productive, aggressive to the boards and did a nice job of running the floor between the lane lines. Coaches noted her post play and named her to the All-Showcase team as only one of two 2028 prospects and the only center.
Rylie Johnson 2028 / 5’10 / SG / Yorktown
We have liked Rylie’s upside for quite some time and noted her earlier this summer during club play. She is long with wingspan, a solid athlete with a backcourt skillset. The combination of her physical tools and ball skills make her a versatile prospect. She can handle the ball as needed, puts together athletic attacks from the perimeter or in transition where she makes plays going to the basket with her agility and length and knocks down the jumper out to the three-point line. As she has continued to add strength to her frame her game on both ends has continued to blossom.
Kyla Kjendalen 2028 / 5’8 / SG / Dekalb
We ran into Kyla early this spring for the first time, noted her play and have added her to our top 100 watchlist in the class. Got to see her a few more times over the summer but thought she significantly helped her stock at AIS with a really productive showing. She has a strong guard frame, shows as a solid athlete in her play, and has a balanced game from the backcourt. She is aggressive, athletic and fluid in her attacks and has an efficient mid-range game with the ability to hit the three as well. She rebounds it from the guard spot, shows athletic physicality on both ends with instinctual play. A junior prospect that has the tools to race up the class watchlist over the next two years.
Hillary Labis 2028 / 5’11 / SG / Westview
Hillary is a top of the class prospect that holds several offers already and that showed in her play at AIS. She has a long strong frame, plays with high level instincts and is one of the top shooters in the class. She can get buckets in a variety of ways with her versatile play, has nice feel and touch on her way to the rim, and takes on contact and gets to the line repeatedly. She can rebound against forwards with her size and can be disruptive with her length defensively. She was named to the All-Showcase team by the event coaches.
Carlee Lanzer 2028 / CG / 5’9 / New Castle
We have liked Carlee’s upside as an athletic playmaking guard since we saw her in her freshman season. She can handle as a lead if needed, is active off the ball and shows the ability to score it in variety of ways. She is at her best using her athleticism to attack the basket where she has playmaking ability and gets to the free throw line but has also continued to improve as a jump shooter. She was recovering from injury most of this spring but nice to see her back at it over the summer and AIS with a solid productive showing.
Katharine Lehr 2028 / 5’7 / PG / Bloomington South
Kate is one of the top true PG in the class and always seems to be so consistent and productive in our views. High level instincts for the game, as you would expect, and athletic playmaking skillset with a mature trusted approach. Shows balance with nice court vision on the attack, creates space and opportunity for herself and teammates, and can score the ball as needed. Has proven herself against elite talent as a two-year 4A starter in high school, high level club and showcase play. Has transferred to cross town rival South for her junior season.
Madelynn Matelic 2028 / 6’0 / SF / Plainfield
Madelynn previously starred at Speedway her first two high school seasons but has transferred to 4A Plainfield entering her junior year. She is long, a solid athlete, with a versatile skillset. She is a very intriguing prospect with her length and skill from the wing. Those wing skills have continued to improve in our views over the last two years, she is continuing to become more fluid in her finishes and as she adds strength to her frame her game is blossoming. She is comfortable handling the ball in the open court and on the attack, is a capable jump shooter and can create shots at all levels with her length and athleticism. It will be interesting to see how her role develops for the Quakers this season.
Saylor Schleicher 2028 / 5’7 / SG / Silver Creek
Thought Saylor had an outstanding showing at AIS, consistently displayed confident skilled play in both drills and game play while averaging 15.6 PPG across three games. She was part of the rotation at 1A Borden that won back-back state championships and has now transferred to 3A powerhouse Silver Creek. She is comfortable handling the ball, has good instincts and feel for the action, and is known for her ability to shoot the ball from the three-point line. She has some length to her guard frame, has continued to get physically stronger, and has a poised mature approach about her backcourt game. Overall, a balanced, skilled guard that will make an immediate impact for the Dragons.
Amaya St.Hilaire 2028 / 6’3 / PF / West Lafayette
Haven’t had as many extended views of Amaya as some of the other top prospects in the class, so it was nice to have her into AIS for the day. She quickly reminds you why she is considered among the top frontline prospects in the class. She is extremely long, with wingspan, and is agile and athletic in her play around the basket showing some tremendous physical tools. Her hands/feet and post skills continue to improve as well as her confidence on the attack, she averaged 19.5 PPG across a couple games. She rebounds her area at high level with her length and reach and is a defensive presence in the paint with her size and mobility.
Jada Walker 2028 / 5’2 / PG / Northridge
Jada is always a fun watch with her high motor fearless play from the lead guard spot. She is a confident ball hander, is crafty and athletic on the attack showing balance between setting up teammates and finding her shots. Despite her smaller side she doesn’t back down and consistently makes plays on both ends with her energy, athleticism, and competitive spirit. Whether it was drills stations or game play the coaches repeatedly noted her energy and hard-nosed play throughout the event.
