Look at the players from Team 7 & 8 at Sunday’s 10th annual IGBRR Preseason Prospect Camp at Triton Central HS.
Team 7
#122 Zoey Curry 2029 / 5’10 / PF / Hamilton Heights
Zoey is a versatile prospect that had a breakout frosh season for the Huskies. She has a long strong frame with a skillset that extends to the wing. She has the size to battle with post at the basket and is comfortable with the ball from the perimeter where she can knock down the three or put together straight-line drives. A part of a very talented 29’ class at Hamilton Heights that should have them among the top 3A teams this season. She was voted to the All-Camp team by the coaches who were impressed with her versatility & ability to be productive without dominating the basketball.
#146 Cerinity Johnson 2029 / 5’8 / CG / Pike
Cerinity had a breakout frosh season for Decatur Central but has since transferred to Pike where she will add additional athletic depth to the Red Devil backcourt. Strong frame, physical backcourt game with a good deal of versatility. Comfortable handling the ball, capable shooter but at her best on the attack using her size and strength to create opportunity going to the bucket and getting to the free throw line. Pesky aggressive defender that will go mix it around the basket for boards as well. She was named voted to the All-Camp team for her physical athletic play and production throughout the camp.
#152 Bella Wehr 2029 / 5’8 / PG / Center Grove
Bella had a productive summer in our views at the club level and recently came into AIS as a standby and held her own against some of the top talent in the state. She is feisty and athletic in her backcourt play and possess a consistent big motor on both ends. She handles as a primary, sees the floor well on the move and has nice balance in her game while playing with good pace. I know she has been putting a ton of work in and its noticeable and translating in her play the last six months.
#153 Evelyn Markgraf 2029 / 5’7 / PG / Bloomington South
Evelyn has strong base, is a solid backcourt athlete, and brings a nice combination of finesse and physical play from the guard spot. She is comfortable handling the ball as needed, sees the floor well on the moves and shows nice balance between her attacks and jumpers. Overall solid skillset and instincts as she continues to polish her game.
#158 Helen Poynter 2030 / 5’10 / SG / Lapel
Helen is half of a twin duo that has the size and skill to see the varsity rotation pretty quickly for the Bulldogs. They are also the sister of Maddy who starred at Lapel just a couple years ago. Helen is a very intriguing prospect with her combination of length, agility, and backcourt skill. She can handle the ball as needed and is balanced between her attacks and jumpers. She consistently makes plays defensively with her length and aggressive play. Suspect we will see her and sister Emma in the varsity box scores this winter. She has the tools to be a versatile productive prospect in the class.
#164 Charleigh Emerson 2030 / 5’10 / PF / Lawrenceburg
Like what we saw in the drill stations from Charleigh who has a long strong frame, is fairly fluid on the move and showed the ability to shoot the jumper. She has the size to compete on the frontline, defend from the post to the wing and rebound her area. As she starts to get reps at the jv & varsity level this winter I wouldn’t be surprised to see a big jump in her skillset given the physical tools she has. A young forward prospect to keep an eye on as she develops.
#174 Laney Kocher 2029 / 5’ 8 / SG / Roncalli
Laney has nice length to her frame, is a solid athlete that brings some versatility to both ends of the floor. She plays with a nice feel for the game, takes what is available and makes good reads. She can knock down the open jumper with a smooth lefty stroke and can make plays going to the basket with her agility and length. She has nice tools and could develop into a really versatile and productive prospect for the Royals in the coming years.
#208 Abigail Hernandez 2030 / 5’4 / PG / Lowell
Abigail was another 2030 that really stoodout with her lead guard play at camp. While she isn’t the biggest kid in the backcourt she comes with a solid skillset, big motor and mature play for her age. She handles it well under pressure, is balanced between setting up teammates and finding her own shots. She is an athletic playmaker on both ends that plays with solid instincts. While I don’t know where Lowel stands in their backcourt I would expect Abigail will be able to see the rotation and help them pretty quickly.
#230 Kate Oldham 2030 / 5’5 / PG / Tri -West
Kate is the younger sister of current junior Bruin Brooke. Like her sister she is a solid backcourt athlete and plays with a big motor. She has a mature approach and good instincts for a youngster, can handle the ball as a lead guard and consistently makes plays on both ends with her athleticism and energy. With the graduation loss from last year’s team wouldn’t be surprised if she sees the rotation this coming winter.
Team 8
#105 Addie Gates 2028 / 5’4 / PG / Roncalli
Addie got a bit of varsity time for the state runner-up Royals last season. On the smaller side but has a strong base and is aggressive and physical on the attack. Can handle as a primary, sees the floor well on the move, capable shooter and gets downhill to the basket with high motor play on both ends. Expect her role will continue to increase entering her junior season.
#117 Adelyn Thompson 2028 / 5’6 / CG / Cascade
Adelyn is a gym rat that seems to be on the court wherever we may be in the gym. She has a strong guard frame, is a solid backcourt athlete and plays with a big motor. She has two productive years of varsity experience under her belt already and will be a big part of a much improved Cadet attack this season that has been bolstered by transfers. Adelyn had a standout day at camp and was noted by multiple coaches on her play.
#126 Simar Athwal 2029 / 5”6 / SG / Franklin Central
Very familiar with Simar from both club and camp play and she consistently plays with confident energy. She will need to wait her turn behind a very talented senior class at Franklin Central but has the skillset and instincts to break into the varsity rotation in the coming years. She has a solid mid-range game, is aggressive going to the basket, and is capable of handling the ball as needed. Plays with solid instincts, has continued to improve and add to her skillset and had a noticeably productive showing at camp.
#132 Jacey Anderson 2029 / 5’4 / PG / Warren Central
Jacey saw varsity play a year ago as a frosh for the Warriors and would expect that role to continue to grow this coming year. She is an athletic and shifty guard that can put a lot of pressure on her matchup on both ends with her motor and athleticism. Handles as a primary with nice balance in her game with good court vision and instincts on the attack.
#144 Emersyn French 2029 / 5’7 / CG / Guerin Catholic
We have seen Emersyn several times over the last year, including this last season where she was a productive part of a young and talented Golden Eagle attack. She has some length to her frame, is a solid athlete with a skilled backcourt game. She can handle as a primary if needed, is crafty and agile attacking the basket and can knock down the jumper out to the three-point line. As she continues to add strength to her frame, she has the tools to blossom into a very productive prospect in the class. She was voted to the All-Camp team by the coaches for her consistent balanced play throughout camp.
#157 Emma Poynter 2030 / 5’10 / SG / Lapel
Emma is half of a twin duo that has the size and skill to see the varsity rotation pretty quickly for the Bulldogs. They are also the sister of Maddy who starred at Lapel just a couple years ago. Emma is a very intriguing prospect with her combination of length, agility, and backcourt skills. She can handle the ball as needed, is balanced between her attacks and jumpers, and can knock down threes in bunches. Plays with nice poise and instincts for a youngster and stays active and productive on both ends. Suspect we will see her and sister Helen in the box scores this winter. Has a lot of the tools to be a productive prospect early on as she continues to add strength to her frame.
#182 Citrus Wesley 2029 / 5′ 4 / PG / Fountain Central
Citrus is a solid athlete that can operate from the lead guard spot. She plays with a lot of energy, has nice instincts for the action and consistently makes plays on both ends. Quick and athletic in transition, sees the floor well on the move with a balanced game. Has a knack for tracking down rebounds from the guard sport and active on defensive end. Had a productive varsity season as a frosh for Mustangs last year.
#187 Jimena Carrillo 2029 / 5’6 / PG / Providence
We noted Jimena a couple times over the last year for her athletic backcourt play. She handles as a primary, shows good instincts and pace from the lead guard spot with nice balance to her game. She is quick and athletic on the attack, a capable shooter and sees the floor well on the move. As she continues to add strength to her frame she is a PG to note in the class that had a breakout frosh season last year for the Pioneers.
#188 Ady Knapp 2029 / 5’8 / SF / West Washington
Was not familiar with Ady before camp, always like seeing new prospects at PPC. She has some length to her wiry frame, is a solid athlete and was aggressive and feisty in her play. She can put together a straight line drive from the wing and has the length and agility to create shots at the second level. Played with nice energy on the defensive end and was active throughout. With graduation loss, would expect her role could grow significantly this coming season for the Senators.
