The host Cathedral Irish put six players in the scoring column in the first quarter and the Ben Davis Giants countered with three triples and the opening frame ended knotted at 14. The game remained tight throughout the second quarter and the Irish led at the half 28-25, with thirteen points coming from the bench. The third period came to a screeching halt as both teams struggled to find field goals attempts amongst the turnovers. In the final frame the action kicked back up with Cathedral netting twenty points in the frame and getting separation from the Giants in an eventual 54-44 home victory. Senior Precious Anku came off the bench to score a game high15 points, while the Giants were led by Aleia Sultzer with 13.

Uncommitted Evals:

Precious Anuka   2026 / 5’7 / CG / Cathedral
First saw Precious a few times during Irish season a year ago and noted her athletic play. She is a little under the radar given her athleticism and skillset. She is comfortable handling the ball as needed, is quick and agile on the attack with the ability to get to the rim repeatedly. Solid mid-range jumper with elevation but at her best getting downhill and using her athleticism to make plays on the way to the basket. Active on the ball defender, can chase down a board or loose ball from the guard spot, and plays with good energy. Had a game high 15 points in the win.

Caroline Wiggins   2028 / 6’0 / SF / Cathedral
We are extremely familiar with Caroline across all play including high school, club and showcase and she has a lot of upside with her combination of size and skill from the wing. She has a strong forward frame, is agile and fluid on the move and shows a lot of versatility on both ends of the court. She can score the ball at all levels, rebounds against forwards and can defend a few different spots with her length and mobility. As she continues to add consistency as a scorer, she has the tools to be an elite prospect in the class.

Aleia Sultzer   2026 / 5’8 / CG / Ben Davis
Aleia is in her third full year of varsity play and is the go-to player and leader on this Giants squad. She has continued to increase her production each season. She can handle the ball as needed, puts together athletic physical attacks from the perimeter, can go grab a rebound and is a solid defender. While I don’t necessarily think of her a long ball shooter, she knocked down all three of her three point attempts in this contest with confidence. Stayed active and productive on both ends as Ben Davis’s most experienced and reliable piece of their attack.

Paige Jones   2029 / 5’6 / PG / Ben Davis
Paige is a multi-sport athlete and that athleticism on both ends of the floor is what really stands out. She is already starting for the 4A Giants and can handle from the point and does a nice job a creating space, facilitating the offense and finding teammates and opportunities on the attack. She is a tough nose on the ball defender that can create turnovers with her pressure and plays with a nice energy on both ends. She has the tools to continue to develop into a productive playmaker for the Giants for many years to come.

Tatum Skibinski   2029 / 5’8 / SG / Ben Davis
We were familiar with Tatum from club ball but had not seen her in a while and was very impressed with her overall development and showing. She has a strong guard frame for her age, shows physicality and grit from the backcourt on both ends and flashed some really nice crafty skill. She can score the ball in a variety of ways, was aggressive and mature in her approach, and was fluid and athletic in her play. In this one eval I would say she stood out about as well as any freshman we have seen this season and starting as a frosh in the MIC for the 4A Giants says a lot about her upside. She will definitely find her way onto the freshman watchlist in this month’s update.
