Brownsburg HS
After spending most of the day at the Body Armor Showcase we were able to make our way over to Brownsburg High School for the two night cap games at the Sneakers 4 Santa Shootout. The first game was the 3A Jennings County Panthers, who upset 4A top five Warsaw Tigers 64-59 behind a 31-point effort from senior & Kansas commit Mollie Ernstes, while Miami Ohio commit B.Zartman had 26 for the Tigers. The shootout concluded with another top five 4A squad the Homestead Spartans handling 4A Plainfield 57-35, Senior Louisville commit M.Epps led the Spartans with 15 points, while junior Ball State commit H.Menser had a game high 17 points for Plainfield.
While we won’t specifically recap the games, we take a look at a few uncommitted prospects that were in the contest.
Uncommitted Prospect Evals:
Jennings County v Warsaw
Aniston Kent 2028 / 5’4 / SG / Jennings County
Aniston got some varsity time a year ago as a frosh and her role will continue to grow going into her sophomore season this year. She is a shooter, which isn’t surprising given the last name and those that watched cousin Addyson knocking them down not long ago. She works to find her space, has deep range and is a confidant on the release. Solid overall guard skillset, can handle the ball as needed, and good instincts for the action. Would expect her role as a scorer will grow significantly next season.
Etta Young 2027 / 5’11 / SF / Jennings County
We have mentioned Etta a number of times over the last year. She has nice length, is a solid athlete, has versatility to her game on both ends with her size and skillset. She doesn’t necessarily jump out at you but she has a workman like approach and is consistently productive in the box score. This game was no different with another double-double . Efficient with her touches with the ability to score against bigger post at the basket with her agility or can make plays and shots from the perimeter. Probably more of a wing prospect at the next level but very productive for the Panthers on the frontline.
Reagan Huss 2027 / 5’11 / SF / Warsaw
Reagan is a transfer from Northridge and will be asked to help pick up the production loss of B.Winchester from last season’s 4A state runner-up Tigers. She has a strong forward frame, has nice length and a skillset that gives her versatility on both ends of the floor. The lefty can knock down the three and has the strength and skill to make plays while taking on contact on her attacks to the bucket that gets her to the free throw line as well. She can defend a few different spots and rebound against frontliners with her size, mobility and physicality.
Cayleigh Goheen 2027 / 6’0 / PF / Warsaw
Cayleigh plays on a team of very skilled guards so she isn’t ask to score the ball much, but she will do a lot of the dirty work of setting screens, bringing physicality in the post on both ends and going to the boards. She has a strong frame, stays active and has a nose for the ball off the rim. While scoring may not be her main role she is has nice touch at the basket, capable jump shooter from 15′ and is efficient with her chances. Expect her role could expand considerably next season with Warsaw’s graduation losses. Familiar with her from the club circuit and camps as well and have always liked her energy and effort.
Homestead vs Plainfield
Suzy Perego 2028 / 6’1 / CG / Homestead
Suzy is among the top sophomore prospects in the state, though she didn’t see a ton of time at varsity level last year due to the deep and talented senior class at Homestead. She now looks to be a part of the regular rotation this season and presents some major matchup issues with her length and guard skillset. She is at her best on the attack using her athleticism and length to make fluid plays going to the bucket. She is a capable jump shooter, particularly in the mid-range, can make plays at the basket with her size and agility and overall presents a lot of versatility on both ends. As she continues to add strength to her frame, her skillset should continue to blossom. She already has a bag full of D1 offers.
Aggie Bell 2028 / 5’8 / SG / Homestead
Aggie is another prospect that would have played a lot of varsity ball at about any other school last year as a frosh but will need to wait her turn and is starting to see some time at the varsity level this season. The lefty guard can shoot it at a high level out to the three-point line, is comfortable handling the ball as needed, and plays with a nice energy and instincts on both ends. One of several Spartans in the 28′ class that will be role players this season and gain varsity experience but should play much bigger roles come next year.
Abrielle Dugan 2027 / 5’8 / SG / Plainfield
Well-rounded guard that has some length for her size, and flashes some deceptively athletic play. She can knock down the three in bunches, is skilled on the attack and shows the ability to get buckets in a variety of ways and gets herself to the free throw line. She is coming off a knee injury and working her way back into form, but she does a nice job of staying active, playing with good instincts and is reliably productive on both ends.
Bryleigh Todd 2027 / 5’5 / PG / Plainfield
Bryleigh has a strong guard frame, plays with nice physicality from the lead spot and shows a balance between setting up teammates and getting buckets when the opportunity presents itself. She handles as a primary against pressure, initiates offense, and makes good decisions with the rock on the attack. Plays with great energy, a scrapper on both ends with a blue-collar worth ethic. Look for her role to continue to grow this year for the Quakers.
